Blue Flags will fly on the coast this summer!
Mablethorpe, Skegness and Sutton on Sea will all be flying prestigious Blue Flags and Quality Coast Award Flags again this summer, as the beaches are once again ranked amongst the best in the UK.
Keep Britain Tidy, the Environmental Charity, only awards the Flags to seaside resorts that can demonstrate they meet stringent standards in cleanliness and have sound environmental management. Being given the privilege of flying the Blue Flags and Quality Coast Award Flags also demands that each resort has good facilities and information available to the visitors.
East Lindsey District Council is delighted the three resorts it manages have again demonstrated that they achieve this standard.
The Leader of the District Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, said this summer will be exciting on the East Lindsey coast: "This is another national endorsement that our coast is well looked after and we know we have lots to offer visitors again this year. As well as wonderful beaches, we have an exciting programme of festivals being planned, including the Festival of Bathing Beauties in Mablethorpe and the SO Festival 2010 in Skegness, with world class performances, sure to capture the imaginations of local people and visitors. I hope everyone has a great time."
