Enjoy the summer at a Huggies® Little Swimmers® Big Splash Pool Party this August
IF you’re thinking about taking the plunge with your little one this summer, look out for the Huggies® Little Swimmers® Big Splash Pool Parties, taking place at four pools across the UK.
On August 12, the Embassy Swimming Pool will be one of the swimming pools taking part, as East Lindsey District Council continues to provide more opportunities for local people to become fit, healthy and active.
The pool parties are completely free to take part in and will be fun for all the family. The two hour morning session which begins at 10am is dedicated to expectant and new mums, with a free antenatal and baby swimming class to take part in. Numbers are limited so please contact the pools directly to book your place. Mums taking part will also receive an exclusive goody bag.
In the afternoon session, which takes place between 2pm and 5pm, families can come along to enjoy a free swim with plenty of fun swimming toys to make a splash with like floats and rings. The swimming teachers will also be on hand to offer new and expectant mums some one to one advice and to explain the great benefits of swimming.
New mum, and wife of England footballer Joe, Carly Cole is launching the Big Splash Pool Parties. Carly, who gave birth to baby girl Ruby four months ago, is an active swimmer, who swam throughout her pregnancy. Carly is supporting the Huggies® Little Swimmers® campaign to encourage mums to swim, during and after their pregnancy, both as a great form of exercise and a special bonding experience with their newborn.
Carly comments: “I’m hugely excited to be launching the Big Splash Pool Parties for Huggies® Little Swimmers®. I’ve always been a keen swimmer, since I was a baby myself, and it’s been great being able to share the experience with Ruby.”
“Whilst I was pregnant I wanted to keep exercising, so I swam two to three times per week. It was an easy and gentle way to get my daily dose of exercise, and now that I’ve had Ruby, it’s still something I do. She’s three months now, and we’ve been a couple of times. The first time she went into the water was a really special experience, and it’s helped to strengthen the bond between us. It’s just an amazing thing to do together. As a mum, I want to spend as much time as I can with Ruby, and with swimming I can do that and know that I’m getting a bit of exercise too. Ruby seems to love it so far! Joe’s a confident swimmer, as am I, so we’re hoping she follows in our footsteps!”
“I’d definitely recommend swimming to mums-to-be as a form of exercise, even if it’s not something they’ve done recently, or before they were pregnant. Try finding a pool in your area which holds special classes for pregnant women which can help build your confidence, or if you’re feeling a little self-conscious, head to the pool when it’s quiet.”
Carly also has some advice for mums thinking of taking up swimming: “If you’ve recently had a baby, the idea of going swimming with your little one can seem daunting the first time. However, there’s plenty you can do to build your confidence and feel prepared. Huggies® Little Swimmers® have a four step plan for new mums which you can follow to get some great tips. You can also make sure your pool is baby friendly approved by checking online at www.littleswimmers.com. The more often you go, the better you and your little one will become, and the more you will enjoy it.”
