East Lindsey urges businesses to support tourism awards

January 17, 2020

We are encouraging tourism businesses across the District - from the Lincolnshire Wolds to the Coast - to put themselves forward for this year's Lincolnshire Tourism Excellence Awards.

The Awards, which are organised by Lincolnshire Live in partnership with LNER and Visit Lincoln, celebrate the successes of Lincolnshire's tourism business and promote the importance of the county's visitor economy.

We are sponsoring B&B and Guesthouse of the Year Award, but we want to see East Lindsey businesses well represented across all categories. This is the first time that we have sponsored a category and with this year's Awards linking into the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2020 it's an exciting opportunity for the district's tourism business to achieve nationwide acclaim.

With twelve categories to enter, covering various types of accommodation, attractions and food and drink businesses, there's plenty of opportunity for businesses to gain recognition.

Aspiring winners will need to act quickly though, with entries closing on Wednesday January 29, 2020.

Once the deadline has passed entries will be shortlisted by a panel of industry experts, with the winners announced at the Awards Ceremony on March 12 hosted at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Lincoln.

Portfolio Holder for Rural Economy and Market Town's, Councillor Adam Grist, said: "I'm delighted that we'll be involved with these awards as a sponsor this year. As the largest District in the county we're home to a variety of superb tourism and hospitality businesses and it'd be great to see some of them gain recognition for the vital role they play in attracting visitors and supporting the economy of the area."

Councillor Steve Kirk, Portfolio Holder for Coastal Economy, added: "I want to encourage all our fantastic tourism businesses to enter this year's Awards. Winning awards like this can provide a huge boost to a business and an area. With eligible winners being entered into the national VisitEngland awards, this is a great chance for some of our businesses to gain the national recognition they deserve."
