New outdoor festival set to hit the Wolds in 2021

March 6, 2020

The first details of a brand new festival which will take place in the Lincolnshire Wolds have been revealed. The Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival is set to launch in 2021 and is aimed at encouraging people to take part in a variety of leisure activities whilst exploring the outstanding Lincolnshire Wolds.

The Outdoor Festival will feature an array of outdoor activities and is the spiritual successor to the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival (LWWF). The LWWF celebrated its 15th anniversary last year and, whilst it is taking a break for 2020 as the Outdoor Festival is developed, walking will remain an important part of the Outdoor Festival when it launches in 2021. There are also several walking and outdoor events taking place across the Wolds during 2020, details of which can be found on

The Festival is being developed collaboratively by a steering group of organisations, all of whom were involved in running the LWWF, including: The Ramblers, Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service, British Mountaineering Council, Heritage Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire County Council and East and West Lindsey District Councils.

The Outdoor Festival team will be working with local businesses, groups and activity providers to create an event that is active, diverse and showcases the Lincolnshire Wolds as a fantastic place to explore and have fun. Leading the work to co-ordinate the design and delivery of the Outdoor Festival will be Jane Robertson.

Jane has a track record of delivering large-scale events and is excited to get to work: "I'm delighted to be working on the Outdoor Festival. I look forward to working with local businesses and organisations to develop a fantastic and unique festival that gets people out and about in the Lincolnshire Wolds."

Chair of the Outdoor Festival steering group, Geoffrey Newmarch, added: "I'd like to thank everyone who has worked with us on the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival over the past 15 years - the Festival simply wouldn't have happened without the dedicated work of our volunteers. Whilst we won't be hosting an event in 2020, I'm very excited about the prospect of the Outdoor Festival and look forward to seeing it take shape over the coming months."

An engagement event will take place in the Spring where local organisations and businesses will be able to learn more about the Festival and discover how they can get involved. More information on the event will be released in due course but in the meantime anyone interested in supporting the Festival can email to register their interest.

Councillor Adam Grist, Portfolio Holder for Market Towns and Rural Economy, said: "The Lincolnshire Wolds provide a stunning setting for this exciting festival and I'm pleased we'll be playing an important role in helping shape what it looks like. I'd encourage all our businesses to keep an eye out for more news in the future and to support the festival and help us and our partners to showcase our wonderful area."
