Free parking set to be extended to August 1

June 22, 2020

East Lindsey District Council have announced their intention to extend the free parking currently in place throughout their amenity car parks until August 1 2020.

We suspended car parking charges in early April when the country entered lockdown. As the Covid-19 lockdown measures eased, we reintroduced charging at our tourist car parks along the coast, with our amenity car parks across the District remaining free of charge.

Now with town centres beginning to re-open we have announced plans to extend the free parking period, as we look to support our residents to return to their town centres with confidence.

Councillor Craig Leyland, East Lindsey District Council Leader, said: "The recent lowering of the Covid-19 alert level means we will likely see continued easing of the lockdown measures that have been in place over the last three months. As more of our shops and town centre businesses begin the process of reopening we want to be sure that our residents, many of whom may be emerging from isolation themselves, feel confident and safe to support those businesses at this vitally important time. We will also continue to engage with our Town and Parish councils and our business community on their plans for their local town centres."
