New purple-lidded bin collection welcome packs are here
New collection welcome packs are being delivered from today to residents in East Lindsey explaining the process of the introduction to their new purple-lidded paper and card bin.
This pack includes a 'Right Thing Right Bin' leaflet, a collection calendar and a letter advising of this new scheme and when their new bin will be delivered. This pack will also give information on recycling glass items in grey recycling bins.
The recently enacted Environment Act 2021, states that recycling streams should be collected separately, where economically practicable to do so. Separate collections with the new service means there is no increase to our carbon footprint, as the same number of lorries are collecting recycling and there is no increased mileage.
Councillor Martin Foster, Portfolio Holder for Operational Services at East Lindsey District Council, said: "We know this is a change for residents across the District and by delivering a welcome pack to each resident we hope will iron out any worries or confusion they may have before their bins arrive.
"I know that our residents are thrilled to be given the option to include glass in their kerbside recycling bins, this has been a long-cherished dream for many, and it is really good that we can now do this.
"I want to assure everyone that we will have dedicated team on hand staffed jointly with Lincolnshire County Council to help and give advice and guidance via email and out in the community supporting the rollout and we will also share information through our social media channels and website to help answer any questions residents may have, over the phone and via email recycling@e-lindsey.gov.uk."
The delivery of the new purple-lidded paper and card bins will start from mid-August and this will be done in phases across the district. The welcome pack explains in more detail.
