If you are either a Icon for pdf charity [61.52KB] or a registered Icon for pdf community amateur sports club [60.79KB], you may be entitled to an 80 per cent reduction. If you think you will qualify, return the completed application form. Information on how to register as a casc is available from GOV.UK.

Discretionary Rate Relief

We have the discretion to award up to £2,000 rate relief to non-profit making organisations.  Please see the Icon for pdf guidance notes [336.22KB]before making an application for Discretionary Rate Relief.  To apply for the relief, you will need to complete a Icon for pdf local support form [146.96KB] in addition to an Icon for pdf application form [510.32KB].  For further details, see our Icon for pdf Discretionary Rate Relief policy [122.53KB].

You require an Equal Opportunities Policy for your organisation to be eligible for discretionary rate relief. You can use our  Icon for pdf Equal Opportunties Policy Template [50.77KB] to help you write one.

Requests for backdating discretionary rate relief will be considered at our discretion. However, in accordance with the Local Government Finance Act 1988, applications must be determined within six months of the end of the financial year for which the relief is being sought.
