Food Business of the Year

This award is open to businesses of any size, from a retail food business or farmer, grower, manufacturer or processor.

The finalists for the Food Business of the Year Award are:

  • Kirks Quality Foods
  • Minting Park Farm

Main judging criteria

Businesses that provide quality products, either directly to the public (via a retail outlet) or to the food industry celebrating the best of local ingredients, skills or innovations.

Evidence Requirements

This award is about the production and supply of food and drink products, customer satisfaction and route to market.

The judges will look for evidence of:

  • Current business performance.
  • Understanding of the market in which the business operates including examples of customer feedback.
  • Challenges encountered and how they have been overcome.
  • Evidence of support to the local economy i.e. use of local ingredients, investment in staff and skills, supply to local retailers, etc.
  • Vision / strategy for future development.
  • Demonstration that the business performance is sustainable in the long term.
