Data Protection Act - Your Rights
Under new legislation from May 25, 2018 you will have the right to access and have some control over the personal information we hold about you. Details of your different rights can be found in our Privacy Notice or from the Information Commissioner's Website. (opens new window)
One of the most important rights you have as a citizen is to know whether and what information we hold about you. As a public authority we process large amounts of personal information about our residents in order to meet our duties and deliver services to you. If you would like to access the personal information we hold about you, you can make a Subject Access Request either by completing the Information Request Form (PDF, 74 KB)(opens new window) on our website or by contacting Information Management via our main address at The Hub or by phone on 01507 601111.
There is (from May 25, 2018) no charge for information unless it is excessive or unfounded. All requests will be dealt with within the statutory timeframe of one month, unless it is complex in which case we will contact you with an estimate of when the information will be provided.
Before we can proceed with a request for personal information we must be satisfied of your identity and will ask you to provide photo and address documentation in order to ensure we give you the correct information. The time limit for responding to the request will not start until we have received these documents. Please be aware that you are only entitled to your own personal information and not that of anyone else even if they are a relative or partner.
If you would like more information on this or any of your other rights in relation to Council held data then please see our Privacy Statement or contact our Data Protection Officer on data.protection@e-lindsey.gov.uk who can provide you with more information.
